Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq, stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt (U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. Before the men of his squadron go on a mission, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil -- to bring them good luck.

If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don't stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

Welcome to West Orange Cares.  West Orange Cares' sole mission is to provide support for our troops overseas through care packages and letters.

Our organization relies 100% upon volunteers, donated items, and financial contributions to send care packages to our Troops.

They need our support.  They need to know we care.

Can't donate today?  Show your support by writing a letter to our troops.  Letters are much appreciated by our men and women and remind them of what's waiting for them when they come home.  Letters are included in each package and sent in bulk for distribution during mail call.

Please lend your support by donating needed items. Our troops need to know we appreciate the sacrifices they make for us. They give so much...and ask for so little in return.

It is the soldier,

not the President,

who gives us democracy,

It is the soldier,

not the Congress,

who takes care of us.

It is the soldier,

not the Reporter,

who has given us Freedom of Press

It is the soldier,

not the Poet,

who has given us Freedom of Speech.

It is the soldier,

not the campus Organizer, who has given us the

Freedom to Demonstrate.

It is the soldier,

who salutes the flag;

who serves beneath the flag,

and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
that allows the protester to burn the flag.

So remember, each time you see someone who has served our country, just lean over and say "THANK YOU."  That's all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Two little words mean a lot, "THANK YOU."

US Marine Corp. Chaplain

Many Thanks to the West Orange Council of PTAs

West Orange Cares thanks the West Orange Council of PTAs for orchestrating the recent drive for our troops through the public schools.  If you did not have an opportunity to send donated items with your child to school, it is not too late!  West Orange Cares  accepts donations year round.  Just drop off any donated items at one of our drop off points.  Please email  or call (973) 736-4176 to arrange a pick-up for large donations.  Postage stamps and monetary donations (checks payable to "West Orange Cares") are also needed to help defray the cost of shipping the care packages. Another wonderful thing that you and your children can do is to write letters and draw pictures to include with the packages. For more information email or call Micky Wagner at 973-736-4176.
